You can take a walking tour, river cruise, or bus tour to see France, but how about another way….by running in France? Let me clarify. I am not suggesting you run AROUND France to see the sites. I am suggesting that if you are looking at travelling to France, that you consider adding in a running race in France….5 km, 10km, half-marathon or even a marathon. Before you say, “I can’t even run 1 mile/kilometre”, I should point out that many races have entries for walkers, so it’s not out of the question.

The village of Roussillon in the Luberon is most famous for its ochre and cliffs, the orange terrain that is everywhere. There is another area, however, just to the west that has some amazing ochre hills and cliffs. I actually prefer this site as I found it less crowded and more interesting.  It is the Le Colorado Provencal. Don’t let the name deceive you. While you might think you’ll see cowboys, mountain ranges, and rivers like in Colorado, USA, there are some things that are similar and some things that are definitely unique to this “Colorado” in France and one of those activities is to hike Le Colorado Provencal.

You must have hiked in the French Alps and experienced what I did.There are two types of experiences when one hikes: one where you are cursing most of the way up or down, and the other where the trek is challenging but doable and you are able to take in all the gorgeous views.
