This is an experience I could do over and over again.

I first visited the Pont du Gard in 1978 and since then things have changed. You used to be able to walk in and across the top but no longer. And, it is much more crowded but modernized.

Take A Kayak Under The Pont du Gard

I have rented a kayak twice and to see the mammoth Pont du Gard in your view while paddling on the calm River Gardon is something everyone should try. Here’s how to go about doing this experience:

  • Park your car in Collias and rent a kayak from Kayak Vert or another company
  • Cost: 23 Euros per person
  • You will be provided with life preservers and a big waterproof “barrel” for your belongings. We brought a picnic lunch so we needed the container, just in case
  • It is actually fairly easy to do the 8 km, 2 hour route-At Pont du Gard, a bus transports you back to your car

You start the journey in Colias and can make it a half day or full day outing. Kayak Vert then transports you back to Colias to get your car.

I saw some people kayaking there and wished I had time to do this!

I would do that experience again in a heartbeat! Probably one of my top 5 things to do in France. The scenery is stunning.
